Thanksgiving Resources

November is upon us, and Scholastic has developed a collection of many great resources to help students learn about the pilgrims, Native Americans and the first Thanksgiving. The first step is to go to the sign-up/home page and register your class. You will receive a diary letter from different Thanksgiving characters via email throughout the month of November. These are awesome for sharing with your class! Sign up at: http://www.scholastic.com/scholastic_thanksgiving/

You won't want to miss the section titled The Voyage on the Mayflower, which allows students to take the interactive journey that the pilgrims took and allows them to tour the Mayflower ship.

Scholastic also provides implementation plans for K-2, 3-5, and 6-12 to help teachers use these resources in their instruction.

In addition, Scholastic has partnered with Plimoth Plantation to produce three video tours of Plimoth Plantation, a Wampanoag homesite, and a Pilgrim homesite, and there are plans to include a Mayflower virtual field trip. This is a great set of resources which will bring Thanksgiving to life in your classroom!

The Smart Exchange resource has many additional SmartBoard activities that teachers have created around the Thanksgiving holiday. They are also worth checking out, and can be found at: http://exchange.smarttech.com/search.html?q=%22thanksgiving%22.
